Hyatt Ziva Cancun: An all-inclusive Family-Friendly resort (Dining options catered to Vegetarian Jain meals (no onion, no garlic)

Location

Located at the tip of the peninsula in the hotel zone, Hyatt Ziva Cancún boasts a prime location with stunning ocean views and access to two beaches. One beach offers a more private experience within the property, while the other feels more public and is ideal for swimming. Despite being the furthest resort from the airport on the main stretch, the 30-minute ride is well worth it for the breathtaking scenery and serene environment

Kidz Club

For families traveling with young children, the Kidz Club is a fantastic feature. It offers a daily schedule of activities, including arts and crafts, waterpark time, and beach time. For children under four, parents can accompany their kids, ensuring a fun and safe environment for the little ones to enjoy.

Dining Experiences

El Mercado

El Mercado serves as the main buffet, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our family primarily enjoyed breakfast here, with a consistent selection of avocado toasts, bagels with cream cheese, fresh juices, cereals, breads/toasts, seasonal fruits, a yogurt bar, and oatmeal. The manager went above and beyond to accommodate our dietary restrictions, preparing customized lunch and dinner meals, including fettuccine alfredo with veggies, veggie burritos, tomato soup, and bean and cheese quesadillas for the kids. A special highlight was when an Indian chef prepared khichdi for our children.

Chevy's

This classic American diner offered a delightful chickpea burger, French fries, and milkshakes. While the burger wasn't overly flavorful, we appreciated finding a vegetarian option without onion or garlic, complete with vegan mayo.

The Moongate

An Asian restaurant with a full teppanyaki grill, The Moongate is a must-visit for dinner. Reservations are required for the teppanyaki grill, and I recommend booking at least a day in advance to secure a spot.

Pasteles

For those with a sweet tooth, Pasteles is a dessert parlor open daily with a variety of treats. However, if you don't eat eggs, the options are limited to apple pie, banana/chocolate mousse, ice creams, and my absolute favorite, the chocolate crackers.

Casa del Café

This cozy coffee shop on the resort offers a range of beverages and snacks, perfect for a quick pick-me-up.

Dips & Sips

Located in the main pool area, Dips & Sips quickly became our favorite spot for refreshing virgin piña coladas and other virgin drinks.

Exceptional Service

One of the standout aspects of our stay was the exceptional service. Every manager, employee, and chef we interacted with was warm, genuine, and eager to accommodate our needs. Here are some ways they went above and beyond for us:

- Room Service: Available 24/7 and included within the cost of the stay, room service tailored all meals to our dietary restrictions, including waffles, pancakes, and French toast, which was incredibly helpful for feeding the kids in the room. They also delivered warm milk at a designated time twice a day and upon request.

Important Notes for Dietary Restrictions

If you have specific dietary needs, proactive and clear communication is key. Speak directly to restaurant managers and the chef concierge to ensure your requirements are met. Be specific about your requests, such as detailing the ingredients for a veggie burrito. While the resort staff are accommodating, they may need guidance on substitutions and preparation methods.

Room Options

We opted for the Dolphin view room, which was a hit with the kids who looked forward to watching the dolphins each morning. The resort offers a variety of room options to suit different preferences and needs.

Areas for Improvement

While our experience was largely positive, there are a few areas where the resort could improve:

- Birthday Cake: We ordered an egg-free cake for a birthday celebration, but it was hard, dry, and not sweet. The staff seemed unfamiliar with egg substitutions for baking.

- Initial Dietary Accommodation: Despite communicating our dietary needs prior to our stay, it wasn't until the evening of Day 2 that accommodations were offered. Once we connected with the right contacts, the process became smoother.

Final Thoughts

Our stay at Hyatt Ziva Cancún was memorable, especially with the tailored dining experiences and exceptional service. While there were minor hiccups, the staff's willingness to accommodate and their genuine warmth made our family vacation truly special. If you're

considering this resort and have specific dietary needs, remember to communicate clearly and be proactive. The beautiful location, family-friendly amenities, and dedicated service make Hyatt Ziva Cancún a wonderful choice for a family getaway.
